Summer Programs
Get ready for a summer full of sunshine, smiles, and a little bit of horse magic! Challenged Champions Equestrian Center is the place to be for kids who want to grow, learn, and have an unforgettable time- all with the help of our incredible equine partners.
“Healthy as a Horse” Camp keeps kids moving, laughing, and learning what it means to care for their bodies and minds- barn style! From grooming to hands-on activities that build strength and confidence, it’s wellness with a whole lot of horsepower.
“Self-Regulation" Camp helps participants discover calm in the chaos. With the steady, soothing presence of our horses, kids learn tools for managing emotions, building focus, and finding their inner balance- all in a supportive, fun environment.
“Horse Powered Reading” Camp brings stories to life in the most unique way! Through interactive literacy activities alongside our gentle horses, campers build reading skills, confidence, and a love for learning that goes far beyond the page.
Healthy as a Horse Camp
This is a 2-hour camp where participants will have time in the classroom with prevention and education experts from the Family Resource Center to talk about age-appropriate healthy living habits including nutrition, personal hygiene, and social connection.
Participants will also get time in the barn to get hands-on with the horses and learn about horse care! This camp will be held on Monday July 6, 2026, there are times assigned to specific age groups:
Ages 3-6: 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Ages 7-12: 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM
Ages 13-18: 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Self-Regulation Camp
This is a 2 ½ hour camp where participants will have time in the classroom
with prevention and education experts from the Family Resource Center to learn about self-regulation and calming techniques. Participants will also get time in the barn to get hands-on with the horses and take a riding lesson! Please sign up for only one date:
Ages 4-11: July 13 OR August 10 (10:00 AM - 12:30 PM)
Ages 12-18: July 27 (10:00 AM - 12:30 PM)
Horse Powered Reading
Horse Powered Reading (HPR) focuses on a multi-sensory approach to reading and emphasizes experiential games and activities with horses to teach and reinforce basic critical reading skills. The goals of HPR are aligned with Science of Reading components which include the BIG 5; Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Vocab, Fluency, and comprehension.
Challenged Champions is offering weekly group (no more than 3 participants per class) and private sessions this summer. Different offerings are as follows:
July 7, 2026 - July 21, 2026 (Tuesday’s 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM): This is a 3-week group session best suited for reading level Grades 4-6. Aligned with Science of Reading components, participants will focus on Fluency, Vocab, and Comprehension.
July 8, 2026 - August 12, 2026 (Wednesday’s 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM): This is a 6-week group session best suited for reading level Grades 1-3. Aligned with Science of Reading components, focusing on Phonemic Awareness and Phonics.
July 28. 2026 - August 11, 2026 (Tuesday’s 10:45-11:30): This is a 3-week private session tailored to the individual needs of the participant.
July 29, 2026 - August 12, 2026: (Wednesday’s 11:45-12:30): This is a 3-week private session tailored to the individual needs of the participant.
