Special Programs & Activities
Challenged Champions hosts a variety of summer camps, including Horse Powered Reading, grief counseling camps, self-regulation camps, horse care, and more. Special camps and activities are advertised on our social media pages or call to learn additional information.
Horse Powered Reading (HPR) focuses on a multi-sensory approach to reading and emphasizes experiential games and activities with horses to teach and reinforce basic critical reading skills. Goals of the program are to build phonemic awareness and word recognition, overcome barriers that block comprehension, use critical thinking, learn new, unfamiliar, and multi-syllable words, and enhance vocabulary. HPR is currently offered during our summer session of activities.
Grief Counseling Camps. Local counseling centers sign up youth participants who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Challenged Champions hosts these camps and offers several fun and exciting hands-on activities for the campers with the horses. One of the favorite activities is painting the horses with washable paints!
Scout Troops. Troops can earn their badges at our facility while learning horse care, nutrition, safety, and riding.
Adult Day-Hab Facilities. Many facilities in the area bring their clients/residents to Challenged Champions for a fun day of horse grooming, riding, and fun on the farm.
Summer Camps: Each year, CCEC offers summer camp programming open to all abilities. As summer approaches, we will update camps offered on our website and Facebook pages.
